Thanks, All

A check in excess of $2,000 was delivered to Lee Kelly on Thanksgiving weekend 2010. I can pass along to everyone that assisted in raising these funds... the Kelly family is extremely thankful.

And, I am very thankful for all your help. Everyone have very safe and happy holidays.

DONE

We didn't meet our last minute goal... In fact, I didn't get any last minute donations. However, it does look like I will be giving the Kellys a check for right at $2,000. Thank you to anyone who donated. -- I will post one more update after giving the money to the Kellys (sometime next week). Please check back

Thanks! But don't stop now

Hello everyone... just an update: We are approaching $2,000 fast. There are still a few people I know will donate who haven't, so I am thinking a reasonable guess is that I will be giving the Kellys a check for right around 2 grand! Awesome as this is I am going to challenge you to do just a little more: All of you last minute holdouts... Give just a little... a few bucks... If all of you gave $5, or even less than that... We could raise another last minute $500 (or more).

Everyone, give a little something... No amount is too small. Our goal is $2,500. We are currently just below $1800.

Thank you again to everyone who has given over the last week... This has become something to be proud of. How many groups of friends are out there that would have done this?? This is a testament to Josh, to the Kellys... and it also says something about us.

Please read my previous posts below for more information on the fund, on Josh and his family, and myself. Please see the right hand side of your screen for the donate button... and details on the fund.

thank you,

Here we go!

Some people are starting to step up, and several nice size donations have come in. Also, several people have asked about the fund... I made the mistake of assuming anyone visiting this page would know the backstory, but I was wrong. In case it will convince someone to give a little to the fund, I will go into just a bit of detail.

Josh Kelly passed away on 8/21/10 after a lengthy struggle with liver failure. Josh was very well-liked... athletic, funny, kind... Much like him, Josh's parents are also very good and well-liked people. Lee is a teacher at New Albany High School, and Sally ran a daycare from their home. The importance of Josh and his family to the people of New Albany was evidenced by the 2,000 or so people that signed the register at the funeral home for the visitation... and the nearly 2 hours most of us waited in line to pay our respects. Bittersweet, but the undeniably tragic thing about the situation is that hospital stays and funerals cost a great deal of money.... and that is the point of this fund. This is a way for those of us who cared about Josh, and his family to give something back to them... when they need it most.

Anyway... an update: At this point We have collected over $1,000... With several people having pledged to give who have not. Though this fund's sum will not be as astonishing as we had originally hoped, it will still be significant, and a large help to the Kellys. Combined with the memorial softball tournament I can say that I am proud of what we have done.... But that isn't an excuse to stop and, if you are reading this, please consider giving a small amount of money. It can really add up fast.

Please see my previous posts, and see the right side of your screen where you will find the donate button and more information about the fund.

Come on !!!

Hello everyone... I didn't keep my promise to set goals, post updates, etc. Part of the reason is that I was embarrassed about our progress... and didn't feel comfortable setting any reasonable goals. But, I still didn't keep my word. I apologize.

I also want to call you out! When this project was announced, the response was incredibly positive. I was so hopeful we were going to do something spectacular...

The softball tournament was a modest success... and anyone that donated to it has done their part. However, if you want to do more please do! There have been other ways to help the Kellys. If you have done one of these things, you have done your part. However, if you want to do more please donate here. Everyone else... I'm calling you out now: $20 from you isn't much... but if everyone that knew and loved Josh donated $20, we would raise a small fortune.

PLEASE DONATE, PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD. If you are uncomfortable using a credit card and donating through this website, I will take a cash donation at this point. If you don't feel comfortable donating to me, I assure you there is no reason to feel this way. Please see my previous post to read about me and why I am doing this.

I don't want to make anyone who can't give feel guilty. But if if you can give, please, please, please do. Anyone who had Lee for a teacher, or Sally as a babysitter... we actually owe this family something. Anyone who was friends with Josh... Wouldn't we want someone to do something like this for our family if the situation was reversed?

I was originally going to leave the fund raising open for 6 weeks. That time expired today. I am appealing to everyone this last time, and I will continue to raise funds for exactly two more weeks from today. Then it will close no matter what, and I will present the check to the Kellys.

Thank you very much. Please see my previous post if you are unsure who I am. Please see the right side of your screen for the donate button, and information about this fund.

Welcome

My name is Eric Norrington. I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of myself and many of Josh Kelly's other childhood friends.

Lots of you know me... but hopefully this site will have so many visitors that there will also be many of you who don't. To the strangers: I should introduce myself and explain why I'm doing this.

Josh and I go all the way back to elementary school, and in my childhood the Kellys were a second family. Josh and I played baseball (and got into trouble) together all the way from tee ball through high school. After baseball and school we began to spend less time together... but if you knew Josh you will understand this: We packed a lifetime of living into those early years. The bond we developed was never broken, and for the 10 years since high school Josh, Lee, and I have made sure to spend one day together each year. I love Josh... and I love the Kelly family.

So... Thank you to every person who visits this site, and especially to those of you who contribute... Keep in mind that if you can't give money it's ok. Just give what you can, if you can... But, everyone, please be sure to spread the word. Tell everyone you know about this fund... Tell them about JK, to whose loving memory it's dedicated. Tell them about the Kelly family. Then they'll understand why they should give. I appreciate your help so much, and the Kellys will appreciate it more than any of us could possibly understand.

Please see the right side of your screen for more information on the fund. My contact info is there, in case you have questions. And you'll also find the donate button, please use it! I will post goals, updates, and progress reports as often as I can, so please check back. Thank you very much for your trust in me!

Thank You,
Eric
